Have you ever seen a sad post from one of your friends? Facebook is rolling out a support tool for those sad posts, or called potentially suicidal.
This tool is like a regular button that lets you report those sad people. You can also select the option to let Facebook to reach out to your friend for help. I am not sure if people will abuse this tool or not, however, the intentions are good.
Do you also see your friends getting engaged or graduating as well? This is because Facebook prioritizes the posts with the comments “Congratulations”.
“In 2014, Facebook manipulated 689,003 users removing either the happy or the sad posts to see how it affected their moods.” And the answer is that emotions are contagious. “When positive expressions were reduced, people produced fewer positive posts and more negative posts; when negative expressions were reduced, the opposite pattern occurred”.
So we are wondering how Facebook is going to help those “sad” people to change their minds to be a happy person again. Is it going to be by showing them only happy posts? Will it be enough? Or why doesn't Facebook do this to every user in the World to make us happy?
Guessing that we will learn about this in the near future.
